US lawmakers vow to strengthen ties with India

Top US lawmakers have pledged to work to strengthen ties with India, which they say has become even more important given the “big threat” China is posing to the world.

Congress member Ellen Goodman Luria, addressing the Indian-American community at an event to celebrate the Freedom Festival, said, “I serve on the Armed Services Committee and really understand the relationship between the United States and India. is important.”

She represents Virginia’s second congressional district in the House of Representatives.

75 Indian American organizations have come together to observe the historic milestone of India’s visit since 1947.

Prominent among these organizations are US India Relations Council, Sewa International, Ekal Vidyalaya Foundation, Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh, GOPIO Silicon Valley, US India Friendship Council and Sardar Patel Fund for Sanatan Sanskriti.

“A lot of Indian-Americans are actually representing California and I am very proud of that. We are working together,” said Congresswoman Michelle Yunjoo Steele from California’s 48th Congressional District.

He said that China is a big threat to the world.

“The only thing we really need to know is that China is a big threat… very selfishly, they want to spread and expand all over the world. They won’t be happy until the takeover,” said Rip Steele So, it is time to strengthen India-US ties. This relationship is more important than ever, she said.

“That’s why I work with the Indian American community in my district,” she said, adding that she is a member of the Indian American Caucus.

Congressman Raja Krishnamurthy, one of four Indian Americans in the US Congress, said in his address that India’s biggest exports are Indian Americans.

“We know all about India from where it started and where it is now. We know that it is the fastest growing major economy in the world. It is one of the largest economies of the world. We know of its great technological development, great agriculture and inventions. We are aware of so much progress but let me tell you about its biggest export. Its biggest export is none other than you…Indian American.”

“We are allies and we need to remain allies and work together because there are countries that don’t want to see you succeed,” said Georgia Congressman Buddy Carter.

“I am a strong supporter of India and India-US relations,” said Congressman Brad Sherman, adding that India is a central anchor of America’s Indo-Pacific strategy. He supported CAATSA exemption for India. Mr Sherman said India should have all options available to defend itself, given the threat posed by China.

Dr. Jashwant Patel, CEO, US Indian Relations Council, Chairman of the Sardar Patel Fund for Sanatan Culture and Chairman of the Organizing Committee welcomed the guests.

“As a community, we are proud of the significant progress we have made over the past 75 years. This includes everything from declarations in healthcare technology, human rights, sustainability, environmental health, global warming,” he said .

“Despite our large population and resource constraints, innovation is at the fore in what we do,” Patel said.

Many eminent Indian-Americans spoke on the occasion including Dr. Bharat Barai, Ashok Bhatt, Harish Thakkar, Narasimha Koppula and Rakhi Israni.

“The relations between the two countries will bring peace, prosperity and security not only to our two countries, but also to many other countries. So, let’s get ready to try and contribute to the betterment of mankind,” Dr. Barai he said.

A cultural program was organized in this program with performances by playback singer and Indian Idol fame Bhavya Pandit, vocalist Dr. Bharat Mohan Balvalli.
