Pakistan faces shortage of fever medicine amid rising dengue cases

KarachiMedia reports said that more and more cases of dengue virus are being reported in Pakistan every day, causing panic and fear among the people as there has also been a shortage of fever medicines. According to the report of Geo News, dengue has started taking a dangerous turn in Pakistan’s Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.

Karachi reported one more death from dengue virus in the last 24 hours, with over 2,000 people affected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, after excessive rains left mosquito breeding grounds, the report said.

Wards reserved for dengue patients in hospitals in Karachi are full. 125 new cases of mosquito-borne disease were reported in Punjab. In addition, dengue claimed four lives in the province, health department data showed.

Meanwhile, as there is a shortage of medicine for fever in most areas of the country, pharmacies in Punjab have been waiting for the resumption of supply of medicine in Punjab for the past four weeks, Geo News reported. The price of a leaf of fever tablets in Peshawar has increased from Rs 17 to Rs 30.
