Five including peace activists killed in blast in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

At least five people, including a member of the peace committee and two police officers, were killed in an explosion in Pakistan’s restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa district. Officials gave this information on Tuesday.

Security officials said the roadside bomb attack targeted the vehicle of peace committee member Idris Khan, former chairman of the Village Defense Council (Aman Samiti) of Kabal tehsil in Swat district.

Khan, his security guard and two police officers were killed in the blast in Bada Bandai area, they said.

Police said that a search operation has been started to arrest the culprits.

So far no terrorist organization has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province Chief Minister Mahmood Khan has condemned the incident, and sought a detailed report and said those responsible would be brought to justice.

Pakistan has seen a surge in targeted attacks on security forces since the Taliban captured Kabul following the withdrawal of US forces in August last year.
