Sharadiya Navratri 2022: Sharadiya Navratri, a nine-day festival dedicated to Maa Durga and her nine incarnations, is set to begin with the Ghatasthapana ritual from September 26, 2022 and end with Durga Visarjan or Dussehra/Vijayadashami celebrations on the tenth day – October 5, 2022.

Sharadiya Navratri is usually celebrated in the month of Ashwin between September and October. Each day of the 9-day festival is dedicated to an incarnation of Goddess Durga and devotees fast for all 9 days either in pairs (first two or last two) to seek the blessings of Goddess Durga.

There are a total of four Navratri, two of which are Gupt Navratri, and the remaining two – Chaitra Navratri and Shardiya Navratri are celebrated with great enthusiasm by the devotees of Maa Durga, who pray to her nine incarnations on each day of Navratri. The nine incarnations of Goddess Durga are as follows – Shailputri, Brahmacharini, Chandraghanta, Kushmanda, Skandmata, Katyayani, Kalratri, Mahagauri and Siddhidatri.

Navratri Calendar: When is Durga Ashtami and Maha Navami

According to the Panchang, this year Navratri will start from 26 September (Monday) and end on 5 October (Wednesday). Durga Ashtami will be celebrated on 3rd October and Maha Navami will be celebrated on 4th October.

Day 7/Saptami (October 2): Maa Kalratri Puja
