The child’s favorite vegetable soup can be included or it is recommended to include soups like chicken and chicken noodle soup in the diet. The soup should contain ginger and garlic extracts which have antibacterial properties. Black pepper can also be added to the spices to increase the immunity present in the soup. It is advisable to stay well hydrated with fresh water. Water is very important for the human body as it helps in strengthening the organs and improving health.

Highlighting that as the weather turns humid, the digestive system tends to be sluggish, Dr. Karthiyayini Mahadevan, Head of Wellness and Wellbeing at Columbia Pacific Communities, recommends beverages to catalyze the digestion process:

1. Sukku Coffee – This recipe is originated in Kerala which experiences heavy monsoon. It is consumed as a hot drink. It has dried ginger, black pepper, jeera (cumin), basil and jaggery. Soak some lemon sized tamarind in warm water. Squeeze the pulp and keep aside. Heat half a teaspoon of sesame oil. Add black pepper, cumin and garlic in equal parts. Fry them till the raw smell of garlic disappears and grind them together coarsely. Roast 1/4 cup chana and let it cool. Now grind it coarsely. In a large pan add gram flour powder, ground masala, tamarind pulp and chopped tomatoes. Add enough water and let it come to a boil. Sprinkle salt as needed. For tempering, heat some oil and add mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds and curry leaves. This rasam can be consumed in the form of a drink or rice.
