District Administration of Kulgam in the South Kashmir in collaboration with the department sightseeing To promote Kashmir tourism, specially organized Aharbal Mela at tourist destination Aharbal Falls. Aharbal Mela was organized near Aharbal Waterfall Park which is a very famous Destination South Kashmir always attracts a good number of visitors, both locals and outsiders, in the summer season. Several stalls were also put up by various departments including Agriculture, Horticulture, Sheep, Animal Husbandry, Tourism, KVIB, Beekeeping, Floriculture, Handicrafts and other departments during the Aharbal Mela. Local traditions and culture were also displayed in the stalls. Therefore, a painting competition was organized in Aharbal fair and students of different schools participated in this competition. Boys’ groups also participated in cycling and trekking programs which were flagged off by Dr. Bilal Mohi-ud-Din, Deputy Commissioner (DC), Kulgam.
Kulgam Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr. Bilal Mohi-ud-Din Bhat told ANI, “On the instructions of the Lieutenant Governor (LG), the district administration is making concerted and coordinated efforts to promote potential tourist destinations like Aharbal, which is an offbeat tourist destination. The festival or The fair is part of the government’s initiative to promote this offbeat destination in Jammu and Kashmir.”
He further added, “The local traditional culture and cuisine were also showcased during this festival. The participants and the local people appreciated this step taken by the district administration.”
