A woman went missing and 28 houses were submerged in a flash flood triggered by a cloudburst in Kali river in Uttarakhand’s Khotila village in Pithoragarh district early Saturday, officials said.
Pithoragarh district magistrate Ashish Chauhan said a cloud burst after midnight in Bangbagar village on the Indo-Nepal border, flooding the Kali river, whose fiery water mixed with debris, entered 28 houses in Khotila. Told.
He said a woman went missing in Khotila village but no casualty was reported so far.
The DM said that the affected area of Nepal received 132.2 mm of rain.
Pithoragarh District Disaster Management Officer Bhupendra Singh Mahar said that some animals of the villagers have also been lost.
Mahar said that the administration of the border town of Dharchula with the help of State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and police personnel is carrying out rescue operations on the spot.
He said that the extent of the damage would be known after some time. The Kali River flows between India and Nepal.
