‘Try to follow the inspirational example’: King Charles III at the Proclamation Ceremony

The death of Queen Elizabeth II made her eldest son Prince Charles King of England. King Charles III was proclaimed Britain’s new monarch in a ceremony held at St James’s Palace on Saturday. King Charles III immediately ascended the throne after the death of his mother at Blamoral Castle in Scotland on 8 September. The accession council met on Saturday to announce him as king with his son and heir William, wife Camilla and Britain’s new prime minister Liz Truss signing the proclamation.

Charles said, “I am deeply aware of this great legacy and the duties and enormous responsibilities of sovereignty that I now have.”

“In carrying out these responsibilities, I will endeavor to follow the inspiring example that I have set in upholding constitutional government and to seek peace, harmony and prosperity for the peoples of these islands and Commonwealth territories and territories around the world.”

During the event of Charles’s declaration as king, six former prime ministers, bishops and several politicians shouted “God save the king”.

Later, David White, along with others in traditional heraldic outfits, read the leading proclamation as if the trumpet was sounding.

The proclamation will also be publicly read in other capital cities of the United Kingdom – Edinburgh in Scotland, Belfast in Northern Ireland, and Cardiff in Wales – and other places.

In Britain, people began gathering outside royal palaces on Saturday morning, with thousands flocking to Buckingham Palace to pay respects to the Queen and Charles – who were declared kings at nearby St James’s Palace.

Charles Not only of the United Kingdom but also of 14 other territories including Australia, Canada, Jamaica, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea.

Camilla, wife of King Charles III, will now be known as Queen Consort. His eldest sons Prince Williams and Catherine Middleton inherited the royal titles of Prince and Princess of Wales.
