The Supreme Court Collegium has approved the names of 20 judges for the High Courts of Bombay, Karnataka, Punjab and Haryana. Those recommended for promotion include 15 judicial officers, three additional judges and two advocates.
The SC Collegium, chaired by Chief Justice of India UU Lalit, in a meeting on September 7 appointed additional judges Justices Mohd Gous Shukure Kamal, Rajendra Badamikar and Khaji Jayabunnisa Mohiuddin as permanent judges in the Karnataka High Court, an official statement said. Approved the offer of appointment. ,
The collegium also approved the proposal to elevate six judicial officers Sanjay Anandrao Deshmukh, Yanshivraj Gopichand Khobragade, Mahendra Vadhumal Chandwani, Abhay Sopanrao Waghwase, Ravindra Madhusudan Joshi and Shubhangi Vijay Joshi as judges in the Bombay HC.
The collegium met again on Monday and approved the proposal to elevate advocates Santosh Govindrao Chapalgaonkar, and Milind Manohar Sathaye as judges in the Bombay HC. Monday’s meeting also approved a proposal to elevate nine judicial officers as judges in the Punjab and Haryana High Court. Among those recommended are Gurbir Singh, Deepak Gupta, Amarjot Bhatti, Ritu Tagore, Manisha Batra, Harpreet Kaur Jeevan, Sukhwinder Kaur, Sanjeev Berry and Vikram Agarwal.
