Union Home Minister Amit Shah will lay the foundation stone for the new campus of Gujarat Technological University (GTU) at Lekwara. Gandhinagar on 27 September. Presently, the university functions from a temporary campus at Chandkheda, Ahmedabad,
GTU Vice-Chancellor Professor Naveen Sheth announced on Thursday that the proposed project will consist of 17 small buildings, each with different departments of various engineering faculties and adjacent workshop and administrative blocks.
The state government has allotted 100 acres of land and sanctioned Rs 275 crore for the new building. The new university project will also have a stadium and an auditorium with an area of 18,000 square meters for solar lighting with an aim to save electricity costs.
The university was established in 2007 by the then Chief Minister Narendra ModiSheth said in his official statement.
