Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday conveyed India’s concerns over Washington’s decision to provide an economic package to the US to US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin. Pakistan’s F-16 Fighter Jet Fleet,
Singh conveyed India’s concerns on the issue to Austin during a telephonic conversation.
“I expressed India’s concern over the recent US decision to provide a sustenance package for Pakistan’s F-16 fleet,” the defense minister said on Twitter.
The US plans to provide Foreign Military Sales (FMS) of USD 450 million for hardware, software and parts for Pakistan’s F-16 fighter fleet.
“Had a warm and productive telephone conversation with the US Secretary of Defense, Mr. Lloyd Austin. We discussed the growing convergence of strategic interests and enhanced defense and security cooperation,” Singh said.
“We also discussed ways to strengthen technical and industrial cooperation and explore cooperation in emerging and critical technologies,” he said.
Singh said he looked forward to continuing talks with Secretary Austin to further strengthen the India-US partnership.
