Rain likely in Delhi today, maximum temperature will be around 30 degree Celsius: IMD

New Delhi: It was a pleasant Thursday morning as the sky remained partly cloudy and cool winds brought respite from the humidity, while the Meteorological Department had predicted moderate rain for the day. According to the India Meteorological Department, the city received 13.4 mm of rain in the last 24 hours from 8.30 am on Wednesday to 8.30 am on Thursday. Due to rain and wind, the minimum temperature in the city fell one degree below average to 24.2 degrees Celsius.

“Thursday is expected to be moderately cloudy with moderate rain likely. The city’s maximum temperature is likely to hover around 30 degrees Celsius,” an IMD official said.

The maximum temperature on Wednesday was recorded at 33.6 degree Celsius. The Met Office said that at 8.30 am the relative humidity was 89 per cent. After lack of heavy rains in August, Monsoon activity has been subdued over Delhi and adjoining areas in September so far.

Delhi has recorded above normal maximum temperatures for most of September due to scanty rainfall.

The weather forecasters said that a well-marked low pressure area over northwest Madhya Pradesh and its neighbourhoods is likely to bring rain over Delhi and adjoining areas in the next few days.
