Passengers of the Namma Metro Purple Line faced delay in their commute on Thursday morning due to a technical snag on the section between Kengeri and Mysore Road stations. Officials of the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) said that trains will run in this section in a span of 25-30 minutes as they had to restrict movement to a single track.

“For information to all Namma Metro commuters. Due to technical snag, trains will run on single track between Kengeri and Mysore stations at an interval of 25 to 30 minutes. Maintenance team is present at the spot to rectify the fault quickly. BMRCL said in a tweet.

The exact cause of the error is not yet known. “We know it is some technical glitch and we are looking into it. We are also working to restore the services at the earliest, and we will inform the public soon after its completion,” said BMRCL spokesperson BL Yashwant Chavan.

The Purple Line, which operates between Baiyapanahalli and Kengeri, runs in the heart of the city and many people travel to the Central Business District (CBD) for work and also by students. It also connects other parts of the city with the IT parks near Baiyappanahalli. While some passengers waited in line for half an hour complaining of delay, many had to resort to alternative modes of transport.
