The Kalambalam police arrested two Popular Front of India (PFI) activists who had allegedly raised slogans in support of the banned outfit on September 29. They have been booked under the provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. [UAPA],

The incident took place at Puthuserimukku junction around 8 am when a group of seven PFI workers had gathered in the area to remove a flag that was hoisted near a shop. Police said they raised slogans during the activity.

Police arrested PFI Puthussery area president Naseem, a native of Karavaram and Abdul Salim of Iranimukku. Official sources said that the other five members have been identified. The case is being investigated by a team led by the Deputy Superintendent of Police (Deputy Superintendent) of Varkala.
