Residents of Aurad (K) village in Kalaburgi district, alleging poor quality of houses being built under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project, demanded the district administration to renovate the houses which were in dilapidated condition.
Padmini Kiranagi, District Secretary of All India Democratic Mahila Sangathan, while addressing a press conference in Kalaburgi on Monday alleged that 210 houses built under CSR in 2010 in Aurad (K) village of Kalaburgi district were completely damaged. If the district administration does not take up the restoration work of those houses by September 15, then on September 16, the people of the village will organize a Rasta Roko on the National Highway in Farhatabad village in association with the People’s Women’s Organization, Karnataka Prant Raita Sangha, Dalit Hakkugala Samiti.
Ms Padmini alleged that the materials used in the construction of the houses were of substandard quality. The houses built in 2010 were damaged and not habitable. They are a danger to the families living in all the 210 houses as they could collapse at any time, he said.
Despite requests to the district authorities to undertake reconstruction or renovation works of the houses, the authorities turned a blind eye to the petition, he said.
