The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested three more people, including an Afghan national, in connection with September 2021 mundra port drug haul case, The agency has claimed that the network, run by the Dada brothers from Afghanistan, had sent consignments of five drugs between November 2020 and September 2021, all of which were processed. Delhi And then sent to other parts of the country including Punjab.
The arrested accused were identified as Rah Matullah, a permanent resident of Kabul, but had been living in Malviya Nagar in Delhi for the past few years; Ishwinder Singh from Panipat in Haryana but lives in Model Town in the national capital; and Jasbir Singh from Tilak Nagar, Delhi.
“He was arrested yesterday for his active involvement in the smuggling of heroin in large consignments hidden in containers of talc stones, bituminous coal etc. by sea route,” the NIA said in a statement on Thursday.
The agency had last month arrested Harpreet Singh Talwar alias Kabir Talwar, owner of Playboy Club in Delhi’s Samrat Hotel, along with his aide Prince, in the case. It has so far arrested about two dozen people in this case and has filed charge sheets against 25, including some absconding accused.
According to the NIA, a consignment of 3,000 kg of heroin disguised as semi-processed talc, caught by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) at Mundra port in September last year, was sent by the largest international drug smuggling syndicate run by the Dada brothers – Hassan Dada and Hussain Dad – both Afghan nationals and wanted by the NIA in the case.
