“The total production of Kharif rice during 2022-23 is estimated to be 104.99 million tonnes,” the ministry said in a statement. This is higher by 4.40 million tonnes as compared to the average Kharif rice production of 100.59 million tonnes for the last five years (2016-17 to 2020-21).
The total foodgrain production in Kharif season is estimated at 149.92 million tonnes, which is much lower than the target of 163.15 million tonnes for Kharif 2022-23 and 156.04 million tonnes during the last Kharif (2021), the statement said. In 2021, the total kharif food grain production stood at 150.58 million tonnes.
“As per the first advance estimates for 2022-23 (Kharif only), the total foodgrain production in the country is estimated to be 149.92 million tonnes which is higher by 6.98 million tonnes than the average foodgrain production of the last five years” (2016-17 to 2020) )-21),” the statement said.
The production of maize in the country during 2022-23 is estimated to be a record 23.10 million tonnes which is 3.21 million tonnes more than the average maize production of 19.89 million tonnes.
The statement further said, “The production of Kharif Nutrit/Coarse Cereals is estimated at 36.56 million tonnes which is higher by 2.92 million tonnes than the average production of 33.64 million tonnes. The total Kharif Pulses production during 2022-23 is expected to be 8.37 million tonnes. Have an estimate.
“The total Kharif oilseeds production in the country is estimated to be 23.57 million tonnes during 2022-23 which is higher by 1.74 million tonnes than the average oilseeds production,” it said.
“The total production of sugarcane in the country is estimated to be a record 465.05 million tonnes during 2022-23. Sugarcane production during 2022-23 is higher by 91.59 million tonnes as compared to the average sugarcane production of 373.46 million tonnes,” the statement said, adding that the production of cotton is estimated at 34.19 million bales (170 kg each) and the production of jute. and Mesta is estimated at 10.09 million bales (180 kg each).
