Kerala High Court stays judge’s transfer

The Kerala High Court has ordered Kozhikode Principal District and Sessions Judge S. Krishnakumar as the Presiding Officer of the Kollam Labor Court.

In a sexual assault case against author Civic Chandran, he was transferred after his controversial comments about the dressing of the victim.

Mr Krishnakumar had filed an appeal against an order of a single bench of the High Court which had dismissed his plea challenging the transfer.

He argued that his transfer as the Presiding Officer of the Kollam Labor Court was against the transfer norms applicable to judicial officers under the Kerala State Higher Judicial Service, especially since he was to retire from service in May 2023. He further stated that his appointment as the Presiding Officer of the Labor Court was a deputation post and his prior wish should have been obtained.
