The NIA on Sunday searched 40 locations in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh for allegedly carrying out terror acts against the Popular Front of India and promoting enmity between groups on grounds of religion, an official said. Regarding running training camps.
A spokesperson of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) said that during searches conducted at 38 places in Telangana and two places in Andhra Pradesh, four persons were taken into custody for questioning.
The official said incriminating material including digital equipment, documents, two daggers and over Rs 8.31 lakh were seized during the operation.
The case was initially registered at Telangana’s Nizamabad police station on July 4 and during the investigation by the state police, four accused – Abdul Kader, Sheikh Sahadullah, Mohd Imran and Mohd Abdul Mobin were arrested.
Later, the NIA re-registered the case on August 26 to take the probe forward, the spokesperson said.
The official said that raids were conducted at 38 places in Telangana, with the maximum number of raids being conducted at 23 at Nizamabad, followed by Jagtyal at seven, four places. HyderabadTwo in Nirmal and one each in Adilabad and Karimnagar districts.
