New Delhi: Four persons were arrested on Sunday for duping people under the guise of providing gigolo services. This gang wooed the gullible by offering them generous salaries and other perks for rendering ‘gigolo/maser’ services. He advertised on social media platforms like WhatsApp and dating apps. They used to ask for money in the name of registration fee, massage kit and hotel reservation. According to the police, he has duped more than 100 people in the last two years.
The case was registered at Cyber Police Station North-West, where complainant Avneet Singh claimed that she received a WhatsApp message from an unknown number offering her a job as a male masseur. After dialing the number, he was asked to pay Rs 3500 for registration. After paying, she was asked to pay Rs 12,600 for a massage equipment kit, Rs 15,500 for making an entry card and Rs 9,400 for booking a room.
When he was asked to pay even more, the complainant refused and lodged a complaint against him. He had paid a total of Rs 47,200 to the alleged persons and did not get any job in return. Police have started investigation by registering a case under Section 420 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The team obtained the beneficiary’s account details through technical monitoring. After gathering local intelligence and conducting a thorough investigation, raids were conducted at Janak Park in Delhi’s Hari Nagar, where arrests and seizures were made.
The four arrested are Shubham Ahuja, Udit Mehta, Neha Chhabra and Archana Ahuja. According to the police, seven mobile phones, a laptop, ATM card and documents related to fraudulent service were also recovered from them.
