New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has invited Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav to join his India Jodi Yatra.
Congress leaders in Bihar on Sunday (September 18, 2022) met the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and his parents, former Chief Ministers Lalu Yadav and Rabri Devi and asked Tejashwi Yadav to join Rahul Gandhi’s foot march. requested.
Congress leaders said the campaign in 12 states has received tremendous public support.
The invitation comes days after the Bihar deputy CM cast doubts on the Congress’s leadership of the opposition and indicated that the party should back down in some areas.
The RJD leader said last week, “The Congress should fight in those seats where it is a direct contest with the BJP, but wherever regional parties are strong, such as in Bihar, it should let us sit in the driving seat.”
However, the invitation to Tejashwi Yadav indicates the Congress’s effort to bring regional allies along with the opposition’s leadership.
According to reports, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has also received an invitation. It may be noted that it is as yet unknown whether the leader will support Rahul Gandhi or not.
Meanwhile, Nitish Kumar’s decision to quit the BJP and set up a new government along with the RJD, Congress and other opposition parties gave a significant boost to the opposition, which is set to take on the BJP in the 2024 national election.
