BJP expresses concern over vandalism on Hindu community in Canada

The BJP has expressed concern over the sabotage at Sri Bhagavad Gita Park in Brampton, Canada, seeing it as one of a series of attacks on the Hindu community in that country.

BJP’s foreign affairs cell convener, Vijay Chauthawale, tweeted the party’s concern over Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown’s admission of vandalism in the park. “Another attack on Hindu symbols in Canada; Another blank tweet from @patrickbrownont” he tweeted.

Mr Brown tweeted that his administration was “aware that the recently unveiled Sri Bhagavad Gita Park sign has been vandalised. We have zero tolerance for this. We have given the green signal to Peel Regional Police for further investigation. Our Parks Department is working to try and fix this sign as soon as possible.”

The Swami Narayan Temple in Toronto was vandalized in mid-September, following which the Indian High Commission in Canada issued a strong statement of condemnation. “We strongly condemn the mutilation of BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir Toronto with anti-India graffiti. The High Commission has urged the Canadian authorities to investigate the incident and take swift action against the perpetrators. in a series.
