New Delhi: Stepping up its attack on the Aam Aadmi Party ahead of the Gujarat Assembly polls, the Congress on Tuesday accused the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP of spending the Punjab government on advertisements, calling it the “Arvind advertising party”. , The Congress alleged that the Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab government was unable to pay the salaries of the employees, but spent Rs 36 crore in two months on advertisements in Gujarat. Addressing a press conference at the AICC headquarters here, Congress leader Ajay Kumar said AAP should be called Arvind Advertising Party, Arvind Actors Party and Arvind Aish Party for indulging in advertising politics and corruption.
“In 2015, AAP spent Rs 81 crore on advertising through TV and print. In 2017-18, Rs 117 crore, in 2019 Rs 200 crore, in 21-22 about Rs 490 crore. Under Sheila Dikshit’s Delhi government Under, the advertising budget was Rs 11 crore,” Kumar said.

Kumar said the Punjab government is unable to pay salaries, but TV channel owners are happy, especially in Gujarat, as Mann has spent Rs 36 crore in two months on advertisements in Gujarat. Kumar asked why the number of students in private schools was increasing if the Kejriwal government’s policy was so successful. The Congress leader claimed that the pass percentage in Delhi under the Sheila Dikshit government was 90 per cent which has now come down to 81 per cent. He claimed that two lakh students have dropped out of school in Punjab since AAP came to power.
Kumar said the AAP government was inaugurating the infrastructure projects started by the Sheila Dikshit government. He also accused AAP of doing corruption through Delhi’s liquor policy. “Government used to get Rs 223 tax on liquor bottle of Rs 350, the great Kejriwal reduced it to Rs 1.9 and said this is the best policy in the world.
