Students pursuing nursing, physiotherapy, paramedical and allied courses at Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS University) will get free meals daily, with the management opening a new kitchen to take on the extra load.
Meals—breakfast, lunch, evening snack and dinner to about 800 students—will be provided free of cost in the form of ‘Srivari Anna Prasadam’, and arrangements will be made to collect Rs 3,500 from the students for the food through the canteen contractor. will be closed.
TTD Executive Officer AV Dharma Reddy on Friday called on Joint Executive Officer V. Veerabrahamam, SVIMS Director B. Vengamma and TTD Educational Officer C Govindarajan inaugurated the kitchen.
He also inspected the new equipment and cooking arrangements installed in the premises apart from viewing the menu and interacting with the kitchen staff.
Sri Dharma Reddy said that this initiative will help in reducing the financial burden on the parents. He asked the students to form teams and clean the hostel room and kitchen daily. He said that the Warden and Deputy Warden should regularly supervise the rooms and kitchens.
