Youth Congress (YC) leader Jitin V. Kulathur, who was arrested for the alleged attack on the AKG centre, was on Monday sent to judicial custody after completing his four-day police custody.

While his custody has been fixed till October 6, the court will consider his bail plea on Tuesday. The Crime Branch team probing the case took the accused to the AKG Center in the early hours of Monday to collect evidence. He was taken to the crime scene in a private vehicle around 4.30 am to avoid public and media glare.

The investigation team also told the court that it had obtained a pair of shoes which were allegedly worn by Jitin at the time of the crime. However, it expressed its inability to recover his shirt and the scooter he had boarded to reach the AKG center for allegedly hurling low intensity explosives.

The police allege that after the incident, the accused destroyed the evidence by throwing his shirt in the Veli lake. The accused was taken to the shop where he had allegedly bought the shirt. Investigators also claimed to have found important clues about the whereabouts of the scooter, which, they said, belonged to a Youth Congress worker.
