AIKS, KPRS demand drinking water in Gunj area

Members of the All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) and Karnataka Prant Raitha Sangha (KPRS) have demanded the district authorities to construct underground water drainage (UGD) works and provide drinking water facilities in the Nehru Ganj area in the city.

Addressing journalists here on Wednesday, KPRS District President Sharanbasappa Mamshetty and AIKS District President Moula Mulla said that during the rainy season sewers overflow on the roads connecting to the Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) yard. Hundreds of farmers coming to the APMC yard to sell their produce have to face inconveniences. Mr Mamshetty and Mr Mulla demanded a permanent solution to the overflowing sewers and rain water floods in the locality.

The members also urged the concerned officials to make arrangements for supply of drinking water at the APMC yard in Nehruganj area.

If the district authorities fail to meet the demands within a week, AIKS, KPRS along with laborers and farmers will stage an indefinite ‘rasta roko’ dharna on the main roads of Nehruganj area.
