AAP leader Atishi strikes outside CBI headquarters, accusing BJP of not taking action against probe agency in poaching case

New DelhiAfter the defection of eight Congress MLAs in Goa, AAP on Wednesday called the BJP a “serial killer of democracy” and slammed the CBI for not taking any action against it. The Arvind Kejriwal-led party also claimed that the BJP is trying to topple the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann-led government in Punjab and has offered Rs 25 crore to 10 AAP MLAs to switch sides. In a major setback for the Congress, eight of its MLAs in Goa, including former Chief Minister Digambar Kamat, joined the ruling BJP on Wednesday. The opposition party is now left with only three MLAs in the 40-member assembly.

An AAP delegation staged a sit-in outside the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) headquarters here on August 31 and filed a complaint with the agency, urging it to investigate the alleged ‘Operation Lotus’ of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal-led BJP. Government in Delhi.

AAP spokesperson Atishi said at a press conference at the party headquarters here, “BJP’s Operation Lotus has been successful in Goa today. I want to ask the BJP how much money was offered to Congress MLAs in Goa to switch sides.” ”

“Why is the CBI not conducting raids and raids on the residences and offices of Congress and BJP leaders in Goa? Crores of rupees will be recovered if the probe agency conducts raids,” he alleged.

Atishi claimed that the BJP is trying to topple the AAP government in Punjab as it has failed to poach party MLAs in Delhi. He said, “BJP is the serial killer of democracy. After its failure in Delhi, its Operation Lotus has reached Punjab.”

Last month, AAP alleged that 40 of its Delhi MLAs were offered Rs 20 crore each by the BJP to switch parties, but none of them came under pressure. Now, the BJP has targeted the poaching of 55 AAP MLAs in Punjab and has so far contacted 10 of them. Atishi alleged that she has offered Rs 25 crore to each MLA to join the BJP.

“They (BJP) have offered Rs 50-60 crore and ministerial berth to each of those MLAs who will join the BJP along with other AAP MLAs. Under Operation Lotus, they tried to break AAP MLAs,” he said. 1,375 crore in cash. And topple the party’s government in Punjab.”

He said that let alone poaching of MLAs, BJP will not be able to bring even a single AAP worker to its court in any way. AAP MP Sanjay Singh termed the BJP a “kidnapping gang” and said its “full focus” is on its ‘Operation Lotus’ to topple governments of other parties in various states.

“If CBI and ED don’t take any action, it will become clear that they too are with BJP and are contributing as members of BJP’s kidnapping gang,” Singh alleged. He demanded that the CBI take action against the BJP for its alleged ‘Operation Lotus’ and the Supreme Court should take cognizance of the matter.

AAP’s chief spokesperson Saurabh Bhardwaj took a jibe at the Congress, saying its MLAs switched sides earlier this year despite defection and vowing to visit temples, mosques and churches ahead of the state elections.
