6 IAF officers charged with murder after trainee cadet hanged in Bengaluru

BangaloreSix Indian Air Force officers have been charged with murder after a trainee cadet, against whom a court of inquiry was initiated, was found hanging, a police officer said. According to the police, Ankit Jha (27) was found hanging in a room of the Air Force Technical College (AFTC). Police suspect that the death took place four-five days ago. Based on a complaint by his brother Aman Jha, the police on Saturday registered a case against six IAF officers at Gangamana Gudi police station.

Aman has also alleged in his complaint that an attempt was made to tamper with the evidence as the AFTC men were present at the police station around 4.30 am on Saturday morning and were also searching for one with the evidence.

He also wondered how the AFTC people already knew about his presence in the police station early in the morning and reached there. “The cause of death is yet to be ascertained. Our investigation is on. Jha was a trainee cadet and was found hanging in a room of the AFTC,” a senior police officer told PTI.

“The officers against whom the complaint was lodged have not been arrested, but the Indian Air Force has assured us of all possible assistance,” the official said. They said they are waiting for the post-mortem report to take the probe forward.
