Volkswagen, as a brand, has a reputation in Indian motorsports for producing race cars such as the Vento and Polo. To carry forward that legacy, the German brand has created the all-new Vertus GT Touring. The sedan, like the Vento, is based on the stock version of the Vertus mid-size sedan that was launched in 2022. The new model was launched in India as part of plans to upgrade the company’s lineup in the market. Now, the Volkswagen Vtus GT will have only one goal in motorsport.
The Volkswagen Vertus GT gets visual and mechanical changes to the sedan, which makes it sportier and visually appealing from a motorsport point of view. Volkswagen Motorsports is building the Vertus GT race car, it announced on its Instagram account. The pictures show the car in the same Cherry Red as the stock Virtus GT. The car, on the other hand, gets Volkswagen Motorsport lettering and graphics along with body decals on the C-pillars, rear door panels and boot lid.
To add to the racing efficiency of the Volkswagen Vertus GT, the sedan has been lowered. Apart from this, the sedan also gets a sportier look and alloy wheels with low profile tyres. Another thing that draws attention is the dual exhaust on the side of the car instead of the rear end. That being said, only the exterior details have been revealed. Interior and sedan details remain a mystery.
The new Volkswagen Vertus GT race car will be powered by the same 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged TSI petrol engine found in the standard Vertus GT. However, the engine here has been tuned to deliver more power and torque output. The engine now produces a maximum power output of 215 PS and a maximum torque output of 300 Nm, which is about 65 PS and 50 Nm more than the stock version. It also gets a 6-speed sequential manual transmission instead of the 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission of the stock Vertus GT.
