Strong sales of new Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, many units sold in the first month

Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara posted sales of 4,770 units in its first month of September 2022 and has booked over 57,000 units in India. In the month of September 2022, the Indian automotive industry definitely hit it out of the park as the bulk of 3,55,946. The units meant it was the highest ever in history. There was a huge growth in sales on a year-on-year basis as semiconductor issues peaked during the same month last year. Maruti Suzuki’s market share stood at 42 per cent last month with a healthy growth of 7.8 per cent as compared to September 2021.

The Alto 800 and the new generation Alto K10 registered sales of over 24,700 units in September 2022 as the entry-level hatchback became the best-selling passenger vehicle in the country after a long gap. The second generation Brezza made its local debut just a few months back and has been well received among the customers as it edged out the Tata Nexon in the second month. The country’s largest carmaker has been continuously launching new products since the beginning of this year and is reaping the benefits in terms of sales.

The heavily updated Baleno, second-gen Celerio, new-generation Alto K10, second-gen Brezza, updated Ertiga and XL6, and all-new Grand Vitara have arrived in the last eleven months. The dispatch of the Grand Vitara has started across the country and in the month of September 2022, 4,770 units were sold. Though it doesn’t present the complete picture, however, bookings for the Grand Vitara have crossed the 57,000 mark since its launch. The competitive price of Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara is between Rs. 10.45 lakh Rs. 19.65 lakh (ex-showroom) and it competes against Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, recently launched Toyota Urban Cruiser Haider, MG Astor, VW Taigun, Skoda Kushak, etc.

The midsize SUV is based on the Global C platform and shares a lot with the Toyota Hider. It draws power from a 1.5-litre mild-hybrid petrol and a 1.5-litre strong hybrid petrol engine. The latter enables a dedicated EV mode and has a claimed fuel economy of around 28 kmpl.
