India’s digital engineering (DE) space is growing rapidly and is expected to contribute 50% to 60% of the country’s overall ER&D (engineering, research and development) revenue in the coming years, as is NASSCOM and Deloitte. According to a report jointly released by on Wednesday.

According to the report, digital platforms and tools have been rapidly transforming relationships between businesses, customers, employees and employers in recent years, resulting in a steady increase in investment in digital engineering (DE) efforts.

Debjani Ghosh, President, Nasscom said, “India is marching into the fourth industrial revolution with an optimistic Digital Transformation (DE) revenue of 50-60% in overall ER&D revenue in the coming years.”

He said that the fleeting years that passed were responsible for a significant increase in the development of digital infrastructure of the second most populous country and largest democracy.

Kirti Kumar, Partner, Deloitte India, said, “India is well positioned to take the pole position in the Digital Engineering (DE) domain. With over 500 million internet users and congenial to being home to the largest market for digital consumers, Along with the technological capabilities, the contribution of the country in the DE growth story will be significant.

DE will play a vital role in government and industry alike, be it for planning or decision making, exploring latest trends or new product creation, he said.

In the field of engineering, research and development, digital engineering (DE) is gradually displacing traditional engineering as the core force (ER&D). According to the study, the country has already established a strong presence in this market – thanks to its growing talent pool, developing environment for partnerships and favorable incentives for the industry from government institutions.

The study also found that India was becoming more popular as a destination for digital engineering due to various factors. The availability of key technologies like AI, cloud technology, blockchain, automation and IoT has changed the way businesses operate in the country. Industries such as banking, financial services and insurance, healthcare, consumer packaged goods (CPG), and retail have witnessed gradual growth in digital engineering, it further said.
