To improve connectivity in North India, Alliance Air will relaunch its inaugural Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) on the Delhi-Shimla-Delhi route. With this restart, the airline will expand its network in Himachal Pradesh so that passengers can fly Delhi-Shimla-Delhi every day, Alliance Air said in a statement. Flights on the route will be operated using ATR42-600 aircraft. The move by the airline is expected to improve connectivity between the national capital and the city of Himachal Pradesh.
“With a vision to connect New India, we strive to provide better air connectivity between Tier-2/Tier-3 cities to their nearest cities. Keeping this endeavor in mind, Alliance Air has launched its first RCS route. Expanded connectivity in North India by re-launching Delhi-Shimla-Delhi, which will be daily with effect from September 26, 2022,” said Yashvardhan Singh, Deputy Engineer, Alliance Air.
Earlier this flight was scheduled for resumption on September 6, 2022, but due to bad weather, the flight operations could not start.
The airline further said that the flight ticket fare is Rs 2,141 and said that the Delhi to Shimla flight will depart at 7.10 am while the Shimla to Delhi flight will depart daily at 8.50 am.
“Flight 9I 821 will depart Delhi at 0710 hrs and reach Shimla at 0820 hrs. Flight 9I 822 will depart Shimla at 0850 hrs and reach Delhi at 1000 hrs. The initial all inclusive fare for Delhi-Shimla and Shimla-Delhi will be Rs 2141.”
Noting its contribution to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, the airline exuded confidence in increasing connectivity to boost trade and tourism in the state and said it would contribute to the state’s economic development.

Notably, Alliance Air only has window or aisle seats, and the aircraft is also said to have a comfortable leg space with a seat pitch of 30. Shimla is the capital and largest city of Himachal Pradesh, which was built on top. Of the seven hills – Inverrum Hill, Observatory Hill, Prospect Hill, Summer Hill, Bantony Hill, Elysium Hill and Jakhoo Hill. At an altitude of 2,454 meters (8,051 ft), Jakhoo Hill is the highest point of Shimla.
